Do you have Virus’s / Spy Ware etc on your PC?
If you are not sure what i am asking or not sure what one of those are then it is a distinct possibility that you do have one or more of them on your PC.
As a rule most of the time they can be removed without damage to the data or programs that are on the computer. The worst case would be if the infestation was too great then the machine might be beyond practical repair of the windows system and a re- install of the computer operating system and software might be needed. If this was needed then I can offer back up of important data prior to the install and returning the data to the correct place afterwards. (Subject to it not being damaged by the virus’s etc.).
