So what is the Internet and why do you need it?

The Internet is easily the largest source of information in the World, and most of it is free. You will not realise how useful it is until you start to use it, and once you have used it for a while you will be lost without it, guaranteed.

A few examples of what you could use the internet for:

There is Online Shopping. This is not as traumatic as one would think and actually can be quite good fun once you get over the initial nerves. One popular place for shopping is Ebay the online auction. I have personally bought a few bargains from there including a new set of roof rails for my car at 1/2 the price of some local stores.

If you are travelling to somewhere and you have not been there before then you can print out a local map from the post code. It's almost worth having just for this! go to my Links page to find a couple of good map sites.

You can find out information about almost anything on the Internet, regardless of how unusual or way-out. You can join newsgroups and discuss whatever you want to. It is the perfect medium for people of similar interests to swap information with no country, class or nationality barriers. You can even find out about, and book a ticket for concerts, shows, or anything else that is happening.

Some people would like to scare you about pornography etc. Especially what you read and hear about from the media. The internet is all about choice at the end of the day, if you don’t want to look at that kind of stuff then you don’t have to. If you are really worried about your young ones getting access to these type of sites then I am willing to discuss your requirements and suggest some options that will help you out.

The best thing of all is that the Internet is actually quite easy to use. I think it is the easiest piece of software you will ever come across. All you have to do is click on where you want to go. That's it!
