What does a Firewall do?

A Firewall is a name for a piece of hardware or a piece of software that blocks all programs from getting into your computer through your internet connection. Not only this it will also stop all unauthorised programs from getting out of your computer with sensitive information.

Most modern Routers come with a Firewall that blocks unauthorised access to your computer but are not to good at stopping something getting out if it is already on your computer. This is where a good software firewall is the best as it will also stop incoming access but will also stop outgoing also. The only down side to this would be that you would not be able to get out or in even if you wanted to, so a firewall is configurable to allow certain programs to go in and out. Internet and E-mail to name but two.

If you would like a firewall installing and configuring I can offer you a solution for your needs and show you how to use it, so that you can control your own usage of the computer.
